Step One:
- Create fitness goals. - Create both a FITNESS goal and a PERFORMANCE goal - The FITNESS goal must be related to over all health and wellness. Examples include increasing running distance and time, decreasing your recover heart rate time, or improving your One Rep Max on any compound exercise. - The PERFORMANCE goal must be related to any sport or activity that your participate in. Examples include improving your general speed on defense in basketball, decrease reaction time from leaving the four-point stance in football, or increasing your vertical for volleyball. |
Step Two:
- Complete a Critical Skill Analysis - The critical skills need to relate to either the performance or fitness goal. - This document breaks down an example Critical Skill Analysis with a performance goal related to basketball. - The example lists six critical skills, three related too offense, and three for defense. Each of the skills include two sub aspects that are part of the skill. An exercise is then listed to improve the aspect. - The critical skill analysis does not have to be limited to the goal. If your goal is to improve defensive footwork for basketball, the critical skill analysis can still involve other aspects of basketball. - You must include six critical skills and two sub aspects of the skills. Each aspect must have at least one exercise. |
